Le \u00ab couteau de berger \u00bb dit \u00ab couteau de berger Lorrain \u00bb est un \u00e9l\u00e9ment indissociable de la tradition rurale de la Lorraine rurale du XIXe si\u00e8cle et du d\u00e9but du XXe si\u00e8cle.<\/span>
<\/span> Le couteau dit \u00ab berger \u00bb avait deux lames dont une servait \u00e0 soigner les pattes des moutons. Cette lame \u00e9tait dite \u00ab pi\u00e9tin \u00bb. Pour \u00e9liminer le pi\u00e9tin du pied de la brebis, le berger se saisissait de son couteau de berger, immobilisait l\u2019animal sur le dos et lui nettoyait les sabots.<\/span>
<\/span> L\u2019hiver, dans les villages, de la vall\u00e9e de la Ch\u00e9e, autour de Louppy le Petit, dans toutes les communes environnantes et principalement \u00e0 Cond\u00e9 en Barrois, \u00e0 Louppy le Ch\u00e2teau et \u00e0 Laheycourt, les fermiers trouvaient une activit\u00e9 compl\u00e9mentaire saisonni\u00e8re en fabriquant artisanalement des couteaux \u00e0 la ferme. Parents et enfants des paysans migraient de fa\u00e7on saisonni\u00e8re vers les d\u00e9partements du Nord de la France, la Champagne, la Suisse, comme r\u00e9mouleurs itin\u00e9rants et colporteurs. Ils emmenaient les couteaux produits \u00e0 la ferme lors de la basse-saison, pour s\u2019assurer un revenu compl\u00e9mentaire et des couteaux produits par une dizaine de couteliers-artisans de villages de la vall\u00e9e : Vavaincourt, Louppy le Ch\u00e2teau, Laimont, Villotte devant Louppy, Vaubecourt.<\/span><\/p>

En 1891, seuls les ateliers de coutellerie de poche de Hacquin \u00e0 Villotte devant Louppy et Couturier \u00e0 Vaubecourt restaient en activit\u00e9. Ils fabriquaient des couteaux fermants de charretier, de berger et des couteaux fermants dits \u00ab boucher \u00bb.<\/span><\/p>

La fabrication de ces mod\u00e8les de couteaux \u00ab berger \u00bb ou \u00ab boucher \u00bb a \u00e9t\u00e9 reprise \u00e0 Nogent, Thiers et Solingen. Ce couteau restant tr\u00e8s demand\u00e9 par la client\u00e8le de mineurs du Nord de la France, les fabricants de coutellerie thiernois le surnomm\u00e8rent \u00ab le mineur \u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
